In 2010, Katie Bergeson made a decision that would change the path of her life. Having spent years coaching volleyball at both the division 1 and division 2 level, Katie was following what she thought of as her life plan. This quickly came to a halt when she decided to join her husband, Erik Bergeson, on an adventure around the country.

Together, Katie and Erik worked for a company called Roofing and Restoration Services of America in Minnesota at their Mankato branch. She began there as the office manager, and the role introduced her to the world of storm restoration. Each year following their start, the two would pivot to spending their time chasing hail storms around the country. When a large metropolitan area experienced storm damage, Katie and Erik would travel alongside the sales team, crew, and office support to this new location in order to assist a local contractor. This new role had the two moving around and living in places like Tennessee, Illinois, New Jersey, Missouri, and more. Her favorite was Knoxville, Tennessee, because of the smoky mountains, elevation, and hiking scene.

In 2014, she first received a recruitment call from family friend Andy Oakes, who had decided to open a storm restoration business located permanently in Minnesota. While seemingly a risky move for job security, she was comforted after talking to Andy and learning the history of severe weather in the area. Katie knew she wanted to move to Minnesota and start a family, making the new job offer a perfect fit. She began at Capital Construction in 2015 as the Office Manager. Soon after the start, Katie’s interest in organizing and reporting numbers earned her a new title as financial controller. As Capital continued to grow, she was able to hire qualified employees to support business operations, giving Katie the opportunity and time to learn and grow even more in Finance.

Today, after 13 years in her industry, Katie proudly holds the title of CFO for Capital Construction. On top of having grown so much in experience and skill over the years, she continues to learn and problem-solve in the office each and every day. Katie and Erik live in Northfield, Minnesota, alongside their three children: Torsten, Camden, and Freya. They also have a French bulldog, Fig, to keep them company!
